THE CURRENT WORKFLOW

The useful part happens in three steps.

No speculative model story. No promised savings number. Just a focused grocery routine you can evaluate yourself.

1

Start from a fridge photo or enter what you bought

Start from a fridge photo, or choose a grocery and add the purchase date yourself. The item stays on the device in guest mode.

2

Review the estimate

Xpired uses grocery type and purchase timing to show an estimated use-by window for planning. It is not an exact expiration date.

3

Plan what comes next

Sort the list, set optional reminders, and use inventory context when planning meals or grocery trips.

FROM THE CURRENT TESTFLIGHT BUILD

Real screens, not a mockup.

Three short captures from the beta app itself, trimmed but otherwise unedited. Each one shows the in-app caveats you would see yourself.

Xpired beta screen "Check What It Found" after a fridge photo: a list of detected items with toggles to review before adding, including a note that Milk has no default storage time and needs its own package date
Confirm what a fridge photo foundReview and toggle detected items before anything is added; the app says so directly when it has no default storage time for something.
Xpired beta use-by detail sheet for Milk, ending on the note: "Xpired has no storage time of its own for this food, so it did not estimate anything and has not checked the item. Trust your own eyes and nose before eating anything."
See the honesty behind an estimateFor foods Xpired has no default storage time for, like milk, it says so directly instead of guessing.
Xpired beta Notifications screen turning on expiry reminders and setting a 2-day-before alert, with a note that reminders are not food-safety or edibility alerts
Set an optional reminderChoose how many days ahead to be notified; the app is explicit that this is not a food-safety or edibility alert.

DESIGNED FOR THE ROUTINE

Enough structure to help. Not so much that it becomes another chore.

The beta focuses on the moments that matter between shopping and cooking.

Use-first sorting

Bring items that deserve attention closer to the top of the inventory.

Optional reminders

Choose whether notifications belong in your routine; Xpired does not assume permission.

Guest-first entry

Try the local inventory without creating an account or handing over a photo.

Account controls

Signed-in shoppers can reach support, export, and deletion controls from Settings.

Meal context

Use the groceries already on hand as context when deciding what to make next.

No live deal feed

No verified live deal feed is connected, so the Nearby Deals screen returns an empty result. It does not show price estimates, store pricing, inventory, listings, discounts, or participating retailers.

TRUST IS PART OF THE PRODUCT

An estimate should say what it knows.

Use-by windows are planning guidance based on the grocery and timing you provide. They are not a food-safety assessment, spoilage test, or exact shelf-life guarantee.

When in doubt, inspect the food, follow package labels and storage guidance, and use official food-safety resources.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you install.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use the local grocery inventory as a guest. Some account controls and connected features require sign-in.

Does Xpired know when food is unsafe?

No. Estimated windows cannot determine safety, spoilage, or an exact expiration date. Inspect food and follow labels and official guidance.

Does the beta scan food?

No scanner capability is included in the current beta experience. The current workflow begins with a fridge photo or manual grocery entry.

Does the beta show nearby prices or deals?

No. No verified live deal feed is connected, so the Nearby Deals screen returns an empty result. It does not show price estimates, store pricing, inventory, listings, discounts, or participating retailers.

Is there an Android version?

The current beta is for iOS. Exploring another platform is not a commitment to an Android release or a delivery date.
